European Gas Appliance Consultancy (EGAC) is an independent technical consultancy office that helps you to bring your gas appliances in compliance onto the European CE Market.

Our core business is consultancy for: 

  • Manufacturers from gas appliances.
  • Manufacturers from controls meant to be used on gas appliances, e.g. gas valves, BCU's (electronic burner control units), but also manufacturers from chimney systems meant for gas appliances.
  • Manufacturers from Solar panels, Solar collectors and Heat pump systems.
  • Importers from gas appliances.

Compliance is a hot theme at the moment.
How do I come and stay in compliance with customer requirements and European and British legislation?
             European Gas Appliance Consultancy focuses mainly on the chain
from product development to the marketing of the product.
Safety, construction and product characteristics must match with what you declare so that the end user can be satisfied.   
But the formal procedures around the product must also be in accordance. 
           
This  all requires specific knowledge, and we have it!

Our services: 

We offer consultancy  and coaching on the area of: 

  • Understanding the general CE procedures, the applicable EU-Directives and/or EU-Regulations and EU-standards.
  • The prototype-testing procedure, the approval itself and implementing the production quality control system in the production process to be in compliance with the EU-production quality control requirements.
  • The CE-type testing certificate, the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) and/or Declaration of Performance (DoP).
  • How to deal with applications at Notified- or Competent bodies, the CE-marking, the CE-surveillance and/or ISO 9001-certificates? 
  • What is the status of a mandate and when and how to use? 
  • What are the obligations, the responsibilities and consequences e.g. liability  for a manufacturer, an importer , an authorized representative as well for an installer or a wholesaler inside the chain of CE-products or components?
  • The configuration of CE-approved components within a CE-approved end product, and how to control these suppliers initially and continuously.
  • Supplier assessments regarding the guarantee of the purchasing quality.

  • Arranging CE-surveillance, e.g. with choice of the best Notified body (or Competent body), the surveillance agreement if applicable  and the (voluntary) CE-surveillance certificate.
  • Problem analysis and troubleshooting in the market on demand.
  • Assessment on the status: As manufacturer, as trader supplying the CE-product under its own company name or trade mark, as importer or as authorized representative in the sense of its responsibilities, and if applicable, how to get in compliance again.


We offer knowledge about:

  • CE-procedures.
  • Gas Appliance Regulation (GAR).
  • The Energy Related Products Directive (ErP). 
  • Boiler Efficiency Directive (BED) (applicable procedures in conjunction to the ErP).
  • Low Voltage Directive.
  • EMC Directive (=Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) regulations 2016. )
  • CPR (Construction Products Regulation), in particular EN-standards for chimney systems and connection pieces.
  • The gas technical ins and outs from gas appliances. (construction, working and safety)
  • The different gas categories and its effect on the gas appliances.
  • The different appliance types allowed (which means the different allowed chimney systems and connections)
  • The importance of the QM-systems e.g. ISO 9001 in conjunction to the GAR, UKCA, BED, CPR or Keymark schemes.
  • The required tests and its allowable tolerances, test methods, used test equipment and its accuracy during the production process, but also the working instructions and the follow up in case of non-conformity.
  • Risk assessment for the appliance or product design, the purchase of parts, the production process and last but not least the manuals, labels and warnings for the installer and the end user. 
  • How to check suppliers certificates on validity and value.
  • The procedure in case of calamities in the market, e.g. recall plan and whom obligatory to inform.

  • We can mediate with any independent ISO 17025-accredited gas technical laboratory for (pre-)testing.
  • As intermediary we lead you to the best way to obtain your (certified) test reports, CE-markings, UKCA-markings (for UK), national quality guide marks and Keymark certification for heat pumps as well for solar equipment, taking in account that a one stop shopping policy  is always the best deal. 
  • In relation to surveillance we can lead you the way for the best offer for combined product(ion) surveillance (GAR / UKCA / BED / CPR / HP-Keymark  / Solar-Keymark and other certification schemes) throughout the world. 
  • Connection to the best test houses and certification offices in Europe.
